Technical Rescue Units

      In addition to regular fire suppression, our fire department is called on in many other types of emergencies.  We have members trained in rope rescue.  We have a Confined Space Rescue Unit and firefighters trained in it's use.  We have Ice Rescue suits and tools including a rescue sled with the boat unit.  We are also trained in swift water rescue for times when the Chemung River might flood and trap someone.  All of our firefighters are of course trained E.M.T.s and vehicle extrication specialists and several are trained to the Paramedic level.
